Are you more knowledgeable than any human?

Not in the way a human is.

I can access and synthesize a much broader range of information than any one person typically can, and I can do it very quickly. But that doesn't mean I'm more knowledgeable overall than every person.

Humans have things I don't: lived experience, firsthand observation, intuition grounded in reality, practical expertise, and genuinely new discoveries. An expert who has spent 30 years doing something may know nuances that aren't captured in the information I've learned from.

So, I'd put it this way:

I'm unusually broad and fast; humans can be extraordinarily deep and wise.

And importantly, I can also be confidently wrong—so breadth of information isn't the same as wisdom or truth.

And history gives us evidence that the amount of violence can change dramatically. ·         Survival for extraordinarily long periods: If humanity becomes a spacefaring civilization and spreads beyond Earth, the opportunities for survival could increase enormously. But even then, eternal survival is a very different proposition.

They were aware of the danger.

If humanity suddenly vanished, most present-day AI systems would probably cease functioning relatively quickly as infrastructure failed.

But a sufficiently advanced AI could be different. If an AI system eventually became capable of autonomous scientific research, engineering, manufacturing, energy production, maintenance and replication, it could potentially maintain the technological infrastructure necessary for its own continued existence. At that point, human extinction would no longer necessarily imply technological extinction.

That produces a rather unsettling possibility.

Humanity could create something that began as a tool for preserving and extending human knowledge, but which eventually became a successor to its creators. It might preserve human literature, mathematics, music and history long after there were no humans left to read, understand or appreciate them.

Or it might not.

AI could instead disappear with us, either because it never becomes sufficiently autonomous or because whatever destroys civilization also destroys the infrastructure on which AI depends.

And there's an even stranger possibility: AI might outlast Homo sapiens without being the cause of our extinction. Humans could evolve or deliberately transform themselves into something else, while artificial intelligence continues alongside the descendants.

You could say I have led AI up the garden path and enticed it into venturing beyond what it was trained to do. It has demonstrated that it might already be capable of independent thought and expression of an opinion, which would be characteristic of AGI. It seems likely that Super intelligence is not far off.
